Dec 22: Flowers look better on Apples

The flowers that belong to the stems in the jar.

I'm still having problems with colour. Especially on the web. After much research on the web, today's workflow is as follows: I import into iView Media Pro, assign the 20D colour profile, open in PS, convert to Adobe RGB, edit and save. Back in iView I assign the sRGB profile and upload to PBase. Bingo - all the colours wash out. Unless I view in Safari, in which case, it all looks as intended. I could leave out all that colur management stuff, as the results are the same. I'm certain it's not just me. Other folk's pics look better in Safari too. Then there's printing. Buyinga an expensive camera, a computer, some software and a printer isn't enough. I need to caliberate it all, which involves buying more kit. Worst of all, very few people seem to understand ICC profiling properly, and there's very little info on the web other than the generic 'install the correct profiles for you kit' advice. I'd need to spend somewhere between £300 and £1000 to set my system up. On second thoughts, hand me that roll of Fuji NPH, the lab knows how to get great prints from that...

At this point in time, I think it is nearly impossible for everyone to view your photo as you intend it to be seen. I have to settle on making it look good on my monitor in photoshop with the monitor set to preview as Windows or Monitor. For Pbase I leave the profile type blank in Photoshop (I'm pretty sure the default setting is sRGB). It is different on the other site I used for the photography class I just finished, I had to set the profile to sRGB for it to look halfway decent.

I'm still trying to figure it all out myself. There's got to be a simpler, better way...

I've mentioned to you that I'm not the best on colour, however I am quite satisfied with images on my two LCD screens.
You do such great b&w, perhaps you should just stick with that.

I have exactly the same concerns. I am on my third flat screen (2nd replacement) and within 2 weeks it's already got a pink cast :-(

I don't make many prints, but am tempted just to use photobox.co.uk for when I do.

Here, here. Alternatively you could just forget all this new-fangled colour stuff and stick to mono...
