I left the cottage at lunchtime. The rain had stopped, the clouds were breaking, and the light on the moors was breathtaking. As I drove through Minions, a buzzard flew up from a field onto a telegraph pole. At Upton Cross, I had to wait while a troop of school kids, some carrying theatre props, were marshalled across the road by their teachers. A few miles on, a farmer sheparded his flock across the road. Onto the A30 and the Dartmoor landscape was breathtaking. Shafts of sunlight on bracken beneath slate grey sky. The light at my favorite copse at Broadwoodwidger just needed to be photographed. But there was nowhere to stop. I had no time to stop. There had been 100 things I wanted to photograph. But I had 200 miles to drive. Just south of Bristol, I met traffic. I sat stationary for 30 minutes behind this Mundano. I'd caught the weather and the traffic. Half an hour and not an inch of progress. It got dark. Still an hour and a half to journey's end. Well, I'm stopped. Why not? Click... not that the 'found in the glovebox' P&S actually goes click...
