The 'Run to the Sun' was originally an annual charity drive from London to Newquay in Cornwall organised by Custom Car magazine. It still takes place every year, but is not the same event at all... The car was running the 1641 'Mk1' engine at this stage and had a very badly fitting twin quiet-pack exhaust that had almost fallen off earlier in the day. Somewhere there's a picture of me burning my hands trying to tighten the mounting bolts of the stupid thing while it was still hot... Doh! Note the soot marks on the bumper... and the race numbers in the window.
