I've stopped putting the EXIF data on my PotD shots. Take yesterday's picture(link) as an example. That was 1/8sec at f4 ISO 400, with a 28mm lens. But including the EXIF info won't help you understand how I got that result. I wanted nearly, but not quite blown out detail in the window. I wanted to have detail on my back. So I used my Sekonic incident meter. It got the exposure dead right first time.
If the camera had had it's own way, it would have chosen 125/sec at f4 and I'd have an entirely different photograph. The camera wanted a perfect exposure of the houses across the street. I didn't.
I've been using this meter for most of my recent natural light interior shots. I think the results speak for themselves. This shot was metered and shot at 1/8sec f4 at ISO100. The exposure is absolutely perfect. No Photoshop here other than desaturating and resizing.
Do yourself a favour and stop worrying about Canon v Nikon and the megapixel race. Go out and buy yourself a good light meter.
