Jan 7: Out in the snow

The temperature today got above freezing. In fact we had clear blue sky all day but local radio was telling everyone not to go out unless absolutely essential. After a gritting truck came past our house we felt it was safe to venture out to get some supplies. It turns out that it was only our hill that had been impassable. Nanny state. This is the footpath that crosses our land. Someone had been out for a walk.

Something like that happens here with fog. It can be so bad you can't see ten feet in front of you, but you go another mile and it's bright and sun shining. Or the whole valley can be socked in for days... We live on a hill, so it's also not uncommon to drive down out of the fog or down into it...
