OK...anyone passing on a chance to houseboat on Lake Powell is nuts. If you get the opportunity do it!!!
It is the most relaxing place in the world...with some caveats.

It is the 186 mile long (when full) lake on the Colorado river just upstream from the Grand Canyon. Never mind that the Greenpeace-minded folks hate this lake for what it did to the environment and the ecology of the rest of the Colorado River's course, but, what the heck...the earth will get over it a few hundred millenia after humans are gone.

Cool clear water, dry Arizona and Utah desert air, quiet solitude.

It is not cheap. The boat is multi-owner timeshared. $500,000 new split, 10 ways, more or less. Check out www.laketime.com if you want in.
The boat gets about 1000 feet to the gallon. 6 jet-skis and a Mastercraft burned almost 1000 gallons of gas.

A couple of near-serious-injury accidents 50 water-miles from the nearest road reminded us that this is not a Disney park...it's wilderness without a doubt.

2400 photos from two DSLR's take some time to wade through and bring back a lot of wonderful memories.

All things considered it was one on the most enjoyable and certainly memorable vacations in my life.
