A friend opened her door to her extended family the Saturday before Katrina hit.
They came with two or three days' clothes. Nothing more.
They are neo-San Antonio residents for the foreseeable future.
I and my partners are getting together a bunch of stuff for them.
Today I delivered a bunch of the stuff to the six families in empty apartments.
Among them, a cop, a nurse, a mechanic etc.
Profoundly gracious and grateful they are.
It's a start. They have a long haul through life at the moment.
Here is a link to some great amateur photojournalism from New Orleans. Something I found.
