I hung out with Polar Bear and my bro's friend Monty Python, ,we went out sailing on a little 14 ft sail boat once all the way from the Marina, We caught a fish and I remember Polar Bear biting into the live raw fish,

When Geri Lewis first put on the Surf-a-Thon more than a decade ago, I hadn't seen Polar Bear for years but he was ready to surf that morning and for the first time I saw him with a wet suit on. I said to him "You GREW Up!" and he smiled at me really big. I used to urge the younger ones at the Breakwater back then to behave or they'd have some consequences from the older guys and I remember Froggy and Polar Bear and Solo would listen, while the others didn't always so they'd get thrown out. I loved those kids and now they are all grown. I'd still see Bear every now and then with that smile for me. So when he passed I was devastated. I would always ask our friends about Bear through the years when I didn't see him and I didn't always like the reports but he was my friend and I always cared alot for him no matter what. He was one of a kind and I'll never forget him. I miss his "Bear" hugs......
