American history X was based on 80s valley skin gangs NOT suicidals or VWB. The movie location just happened to be venice beach.

I'm sure he got schooled about it...I just meant that that movie makes it seem to the average Joe that thats how we (Venice)do it and we don't, we are multicultural and worldly. Most of OUR gen anyway.. I know there has been a few, but they didnt last long without a beat down. Venice was just to tight and mixed.

I was gonna say something but dave clarified for me. he was on that tip back then kelly not anymore,at least not around me or my homies. I did not say he lacked common sence, lol
On the other hand, I do have one picture of Reed wearing one of those "Adolph Hitler World Tour 1939-1945" tee shirts. I supect that he was trying a bit hard at this age because he had been sooooo button nose cute as a kid (see next 000151)not an easy thing to live down on the oceanfront...

Yeah, I agree Kelly. That movie was shot in Venice but was not about Venice. The only Aryan bros here were some of the (adult) bikers, and only usually after they had gotten locked up for awhile. When you younger guys (like my brother) started listening to punk I remember most of us older generation being pretty close-minded about it. (Especially when you cut your hair.) But some of us came around.... I did, anyway.

That movie kind of bugged me cuz non of my homies were nazi white pride dudes and people think thats what kind of punkers we were, now. As far as I know we used to beat those kind of fools down at punk shows. Venice Boys were always worldly in that aspect. It's always some idiot who thinks it's that way when they come here and it's not. They act a fool and we get the bad rep. There is always the occasional exception I guess..
