Eric Andersen aka "Froggy"

Eric,usually called "Froggy", or "Frog" these days (I guess dropping the Y adds a note of maturity) would have been our "Baby Paul" except that it was impossible to ever think of him as a baby. He was really the organizer among us. He pulled it all together.
I remember being anoyed with him because he kept calling INFORMATION for phone numbers, even after I'd asked him not to. I always used the phone book because 411 cost money that we didn't have. Finally it dawned on me that he was so young that he barely understood alphabetical order! One memorable time in my van everyone was making fun of him, really giving him a hard time from all sides, perhaps for, shall we say, his lack of sophistication in the ways of love. Finally he'd had enough and blurted out:"!!! I'M ONLY TEN YEARS OLD !!" Immediately a hush fell over the entire van as we all realized that ,shocking though it was, it was undeniably the truth!

I KNEW FROGGY WHEN HE WAS 9 YEARS OLD, WE LIVED DOWN THE STREET FROM HIM AND HIS FAMILY ON STRONGS DRIVE. KORI REED AND ERIC HAD MANY A GOOD TIME TOGETHER, THE BACK YARD OF THIER HOUSE WAS ALL NICE PLANTS THAT KORI TOOK CARE OF. i went to area d from the start when we had classes in the sand at the breakwater then we moved to grandview accross from mar vista market the 1975 class that i was in graduated at the venice pavillion,i still keep in touch with steve nemzer and sally conn came to a gig i played at brennans pub a few years back myron hyman

last time i saw froggy he was done being called that, it was eric time. scott herman took me over to score a board before i split with andy hooper and others on a surf trip to costa rica and back by truck. froggy sold me his favorite board and we named it "the jesus board" after surfing pascuales. best board i ever had but it got ripped off in san jose, c.r. 2 months later. i still compare all boards to the jesus board and i still owe froggy for handing it over for $100, ..... he was almost crying when he let go of it. dov

I'm fairly sure that Frog knows about the site but I haven't heard from him.... from what I remember keyboards and typing probably aren't his style. Mark Fredericks and I exchanged Christmas cards for years. I think he was in Virginia. Wow how I got here Area D yeah that school was bananas.Lighting up m80's blowing the girls bathroom door off. I used to hang with Daniel Bird, Richard Smith? I think that was his last name and George Hayman. Area D Crew: "Lance was here '77" was scribbled all over our school. At one point a group of kids began an investigation to see if they could find out who Lance was. Well... It was me. I had the fortune of tripping back to our school a few years back and was given the red carpet treatment by the current tenants in the back building (Rick & Simcha's building). I shot about one hour of video footage, and was shocked to discover my very own graffiti from so many years ago. Craig Mautner - my soul is funkified once again to see your still stiring up dust! Melanie and I were so glad to see you at the reunion a time back. From Area D? Please write to me!

I went to Area D Alternative School from its founding in fall of 73 at the Pavilion til I graduated in 77when it was on Grandview in Mar Vista. We were pretty free to do what we wanted there. In fact I kind of stopped showing up during senior year but made it out anyways.

By the time Area D moved into the old Anchorage Elem School site it was a far distant shadow of itself and bore little resemblance to the Alternative school framework upon which it was founded. The school really existed only in name. : - ( I attended Anchorage Street Elementary School (when it WAS in fact Anchorage Elem) and attended Junior High and High School at Area D. Finished up in the early 80's.

Hey I went to Area D when it was at the Pavilion, about 73-74, I think, and later when it moved up into Mar Vista by the disabled school...Jean Hawkins and I had a ball in the school, not much got done I remember playing all the time. When we were at the beach in the pavilion I remember just playing in the sand and talking at the cement tables and roller skating all around the area.

it just went under these guy Rex,Eric,Reid,Solo, Black Lance and many more were such an influence as far as skateing at Area D is anyone in touch Nanie Kevin Edison or Krandal??? those are the people I remember hangin with Marina Skate Park Rocked 1979

I went there when it was called Anchorage Elementary, they closed it in the middle of my 6th grade year. I think it re-opened the next year as Area D.
