Las Vegas was built courtesy of the railroads, to house their workers in the early 1900’s they started with tents and then made more permanent structures building cottages along the main streets of downtown most of these structures are now gone and replaced with slightly more modern version and these are now disappearing to be replaced with a new transient bus terminal and proposed City Hall off of Bonneville and First and the surrounding neighborhood. Now the human occupants have all moved out, the homes have been fenced off with temporary fencing and the other occupants who have lived there since the homes were built are the only ones still living there.
Waiting unknowingly for the wrecking ball or bulldozers to come and destroy their homes and their lives. In the meantime the Colony remains now taken care of by a few volunteers, the occupants have been neutered, are provided with water and food. There’s no new location to move them to so they spend their days in the shade occasionally chasing the birds, climbing trees walking along roof lines, sleeping and watching out for human predators who may harm them.
Now that I’ll found them, I’ll keep tabs on them and attempt to see about having them humanely relocated in the meantime this colony is on borrowed time.
