My name is Paul Kraay and I was with the 47th in 1969-1970. I took this picture of all dogs loved to fly in helicopters in 1970 as we were flying out of Phu Bai . I believe the handlers last name was Franks but I can't remeber for sure. I do know that it belongs in the 47th folder. I still have a copy of this at home and I will check to see if I wrote the handlers name on the back.

My name is Patricia Price from Port St. Lucie, FL. Until I watched a special documentary on the Discovery channel a few years ago, I had no idea that these beautiful dogs served in Vietnam, and worse, that so many were euthanized or left behind. Since that time, I have shed many tears over what might have been the fate of these dogs, but take solace in the fact that I truly believe someday they will be reunited with their handlers. I cannot fathom what it must have been like to have to leave these dogs behind in Vietnam. I have personally lost two German Shepherds as pets over the years, and that was very painful, but at least I knew what happened to them. I cannot imagine what you handlers must have experienced. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep the faith; you will see your beloved partners again.
