Pinawa Dam

Pinawa, MB view map

Construction commenced in 1903 and went on line in 1906; decommissioned in 1951 (to allow the full flow of the Winnipeg River to serve the new Seven Sisters Hydro Station built downstream) and the area transitioned into a provincial park in 1985.

Where I am standing would have been a torrent of water pre-1951.

How interesting... from the thumb I thought at first I was looking at a Roman aqueduct! Why was it decommissioned I wonder? V

Great capture. Some scenes were just made for wide-angle lenses.

Great POV and well done, especially the reflection.

the eye does much traveling across the frame here, and rewarding it is...that was an unusual genesis for a park, but the availability of at least some water must have ensured success..

nice perspective with the reflections.V.

From the thumbnail, I thought you were somewhere where they have old Roman aqueducts. Superb composition on a really beautiful day. ~BV~
