On the top of one hill stands a castle, on the other a star-shaped fort. Between them the houses of Castro Marim, with their white walls with brightly-painted borders, their flat roofs and their ornate chimneys sculpted into lace-like patterns. Linking the church, the castle and the fort, the streets of Castro Marim are lined with houses whose simplicity is typical of the architecture of the Algarve. White predominates, broken here and there by ochres and luminous blues.

Looking out from Castro Marim castle you have the sea on one side and on the other the rounded shape hills as far as one can see. These are the uplands challenging those who like bird-watching, to walk or to cycle, and who appreciate the charming of the natural world.

Auf einem Hügel liegt die Burg, auf einem anderen die sternenförmig angelegte Festung. Dazwischen dehnen sich die weissen, mit bunten Friesen, durchbrochenen Schornsteinen und Dachterrassen geschmücken Häuser von Castro Marim aus. Die Gebäude, zu denen auch die Kirche, die Burg und das Fort zu zählen sind, spiegeln auf einzigartige Weise die typische Architektur der Algarve wider. Das vorherrschende Weiss wird von Ocker und leuchtenden Blautönen aufgelockert. Die geschmackvollen Farbfriese sind teils geometrisch, teils floral angelegt.

Von der Burg von Castro Marim reicht der Blick bis zum Meer. Auf der anderen Seite erstrecken sich Berge, soweit das Auge reicht, die nur auf diejenigen warten, die die Weite der Landschaft suchen, Vögel und Pflanzen beobachten möchten, gerne wandern oder Radfahren und ganz einfach den Kontakt mit der Natur suchen.

No alto de um morro o castelo, noutro o forte em forma de estrela. Entre os dois espraiam-se as casas brancas de Castro Marim, de platibandas coloridas, açoteias e chaminés rendilhadas. Unindo a igreja, o castelo e o forte, as ruas de Castro Marim têm casas que, na sua singeleza, reflectem a típica arquitectura algarvia. O branco sempre predominante é quebrado por ocres e azuis luminosos. As platibandas dizem bem do gosto pelas formas geométricas ou pelos motivos florais.

Quem sobe ao castelo de Castro Marim, vê de um lado o mar e de outro os montes que se estendem até ao horizonte. Essas são as serras que desafiam os que apreciam os grandes espaços, se interessam por identificar aves e plantas, gostam de passeios a pé ou de bicicleta ou de contactar com a Natureza.
