The boundaries of Aljezur are delimited by the sea and the hills reflecting this double influence in its landscapes. While the coast is marked by high cliffs hiding sandy coves and dunes, the hinterland is a place of rolling hills covered with vegetation as far as the eye can see. Between them a wide area of fertile fields and valleys is still cultivated with traditional crops. To spend some time in Aljezur is on opportunity to recover peace and tranquility or to experience a silence broken only by the singing of birds or by the waves on the rocks.

Aljezur is a small coastal village with typical houses from the rural architecture of the Algarve, with colourful borders painted around windows and along the edges of whitewashed walls.

At the top of the hill, the castle ramparts, symbol of the struggle between Christians and Moors, remind us of its historical past. A cascade of houses tumbling down the hillside towards the river faces the plain where this centenary village found its expansion and future.

Die Landschaft des Bezirkes Aljezur ist geprägt durch seine Lage zwischen Meer und Gebirge. Zwischen den steilen Felsklippen am Küstenstreifen verbergen sich Sandstrände und Dünen, im Landesinnern erstrecken sich üppig bewachsene Hügelketten bis zum Horizont. In den fruchtbaren Tälern dazwischen wird traditionell Landwirtschaft betrieben. Wer sich auf Entdeckungsreise durch den Kreis begibt, wird dabei seine innere Ruhe wiederfinden. Das Gezwitscher der Vögel und das Rauschen der Wellen, die sich an den Felsen brechen, sind die einzigen Geräusche, die die Stille unterbrechen.

Aljezur ist eine kleine Ortschaft an der Vicentinischen Küste, deren Häuser die typischen Merkmale der Bauernhäuser der Algarve aufweisen. Farbig eingefasste Fenster lassen das Weiss der Fassaden noch leuchtender strahlen.

Die Burgmauern, die den Hügel krönen, erinnern an die bewegte Vergangenheit und sind Symbol der Kämpfe zwischen Mauren und Christen. Das weisse Häusermeer schmiegt sich an den Hügel und fällt einem Wasserfall gleich in Richtung Fluss ab. Davor liegt eine Ebene, auf der sich die jahrhundertealte Stadt ausdehnen konnte.

Limitado pelo mar e pela serra, o concelho de Aljezur reflecte nas suas paisagens esta dupla influência. A orla marítima é marcada por altas falésias onde se aninham areias e dunas, enquanto o interior é uma sucessão de horizontes cobertos de vegetação. Entre ambos, vales e charnecas férteis mantêm a tradição do cultivo. Percorrer o concelho é uma oportunidade de recuperar a tranquilidade e de reencontrar o silêncio, cortado pelo canto das aves ou pelas ondas embatendo nas rochas.

Aljezur é uma pequena vila da costa vicentina com casas características da arquitectura rural algarvia, em que platibandas e vãos de janela coloridos realçam as fachadas brancas.

No alto do morro as muralhas do castelo lembram o seu passado histórico, símbolo de lutas entre mouros e cristãos. Na colina, a quase cascata do alvo casario em direcção à ribeira tem à sua frente a planície, onde esta vila secular soube encontrar a sua expansão e o seu futuro.
