John,
This is truly amazing - I just love the bond between man and bird. How exciting to have them bring their baby to you. You have been blessed. Thanks for sharing your pictures and thanks for sharing your story.
I don't post here much but enjoy the wonderful pictures the other members have posted over the years.
This is John Clark here in Seffner, Florida. I posted the picture. I live adjacent to a small wetlands area. I feed all the birds and squirrels everyday. I have the feeders right outside my computer room window so I get quite a show. The Sandhill Cranes walk around our neighborhood on a regular basis. One day the (2) parents decided to pay me a visit. I gave them some peanuts and bread and then on they became my buddies. One of them will even take peanuts from a little cup I have for feeding purposes. They disappeared for about a month or so and I was afraid they may have been hit by a car. The other day I was out in my shop and one of them showed up for breakfast. I looked out the door and the other Sandhill Crane was there and they had a baby with them. I guess that explains where they were. I even got a kiss from one of them. Put his beak around my arm. Pretty friendly bunch. Occasionally they will even do a dance for me in appreciation for the handouts. Their latest trick is to tap on the window with their beak to let me know it is time for breakfast. I had the blinds drawn the other morining and heard a tap on the window. I opened up the blinds only to find my buddy standing there waiting for his breakfast. What a treat.
I also have a nest of Red Shouldered Hawks that have chosen my yard as their home. I took pictures of them a couple years ago with their 3 little babies.
All of my fine feathered friends like John's Place. I also have an African Grey named Sam that also enjoys the visits from my other dependents.
Hope you enjoyed the picture. I took some of the family and may post a picture of the baby.

Who posted this picture? I spent a day last fall at the Crex Wildlife Area for the great SandHill Crane Migration - took lots of pictures - but none were very good - the cranes were very leary and took off in flight when we tried to get close. I am surprised that they let you get close.
