Janet

Carl's is a little walk up ice cream stand that has been in business here for 60 years and is probably our most famous landmark. They usually close right before Christmas and then re-open the middle of February. Bear in mind that it is 28 degrees out with a few snow flurries and occasional wind gusts that nearly rock the house. I just thought I'd drive by and see if any one was actually there. I dashed back home to get my camera and took this from across the street while still sitting in my nice warm car. The ice cream is good, but not THAT good!

This reminds me of our stand in Winona, MN -- the "Cree-Mee Top" when I was in high school. (In the '50's!) I could make the curl on top just as well as the kids at Dairy Queen, about 6 blocks away. ~ Dee Hart, in Wisconsin

Small towns are great! Where else can you stand in line in below freezing weather to eat ice cream?

That is why ice cream in the winter is really good, because you can go get it and eat it before it runs down your arm.......

I usually say "at least your ice cream won't melt".
