An open-house event at the Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum.
(This HO-scale model of a Norfolk & Western "Challenger" steam engine was an
impressive example of how computerization has infiltrated the hobby, with its
wireless walkaround control, flickering diode lights in the firebox and a
recorded soundtrack from a real engine playing through a tender-mounted speaker)

The tender is the part of the engine with the N&W name on it. There is a tiny speaker inside playing sounds either recorded on a chip or sent via other means (radio or through the tracks)..
