Lakeview Cemetery Dam
Cleveland, Ohio
--------------------------------------------------------------
Crossing a ravine that runs through Lakeview Cemetery, this dam seems strangely out of place
with only a trickle running under it and no reservoir behind it. It's there to catch overflows
from city storm sewers and prevent flooding the sanitary sewer system. Supposedly the largest
concrete dam east of the Rockies, it is a massive structure, 500 feet across and 100 feet tall.

Suspicious earmarks of a "pork barrel" project, Gary? Strikes me that way too, although there was tremendous environmental pressure on reducing Lake Erie pollution when this was built.

Hard to believe that's all for storm sewers; somebody had a big budget...8^)
