I think you did fine, this is a good night shot. The long row of "stars" gives a nice effect

Thanks for the lovely comments, but I have seen so much better within the group, I just cant seem to get the results that many others do with the 2100. I guess its my in experience for sure.
With regards to the stary effect , I believe its the high f number along with the distance from the subject.
Good one, Bruce. Surely you used a tripod. Was it the 8 seconds that created the star effect? It looks great.

I especially like the way the coloured street lights show up in the reflection on the water...it really is a lovely shot. Keep taking night shots and keep sharing too. Makes me homesick!
