Not a sight too many of us have seen before, so I'm glad you've been following this baby, blown out highlights or not. I just like seeing them.

I tried a couple of shots by spot metering on the shadows. Unfortunately, that led to totally blown out high lights. Had I been closer to the subject, flash fill would have probably worked. However, I was too far away for even the FL 40. I was some distance away from the Rhino pair. In addition to the Uzi zoom, I had to use the B-300 lens for this photo. Liz

You could use flash to better expose the subject leaving the highlights the same.

Liz, Its possible to get it brighter - you can change the spot metering (forgive me if I get the terminology wrong) and use the darker areas on the rhino. This will cause the brighter background to be overexposed and saturated, but it will lighten up the dark areas. Then again, you might already know all this.
