Val, you spotted and captured a nice photo of what many others would likely have missed; great shot. One could easily assume this is a picture of wisps of snow that stayed in indentations of the ground. Very nice!

Interesting patterns with the pools and sand. The shadow throws me from the mesmerizing pattern as it seems out of place, but I like the photo.

Thanks for the comments Katherine and Bruce.
It's true there's not much of an indication of scale in the photo ... but the birds are normal sized ducks, gulls, etc ... it's a view across maybe 100 yards or more.
The sand/mud banks looked more course-grained in the photo than in reality, and altering the contrast and saturation accentuated this even more. I can see how this might make the scale even more confusing :-)

I like this picture. I've tried often to take sand/water pictures. I think the key to success is that our sand is much too fine, and provides little contrast or texture, like yours. And you found nice tidal pools.
