I believe it's an idea universally held to be true that, when interpreting any route signs anywhere, it always helps if one already knows precisely where one is going and how to get there, LOL!
This is the kind of sign I like to get when I'm a stranger in town. All you can do is sit there bewildered and wish there was a fourth option that says "Huh?".
