Driving on a back road, the morning fog and lighting behind this valley oak made me stop for this photo. I'm still not sure about the crop, but I liked the shadowy-foggy detail with the tree to the side.
Oh Gary! This is sooo pretty! I have been wanting to get a fog shot. I keep telling myself I am going to get up early so I can stop on the way to work....never happens! Great job!
So atmospheric with the mist, yet still being able to see the hills, and lovely detail in the tree & power/phone lines (- as I write that, I realise how right the lines look here, creating another path through the image, whereas in other compositions they're often cloned out). As Bruce says, the tree defines the crop, and I think it looks just right ... nice example of the use of thirds :-)
