Val Sharp

Yikes! - turned 50 this year ('03). Where did it all go?

Originally from Hertfordshire (England), I worked first as a computer programmer, but left to pursue an MA in Philosophy at Edinburgh University (Scotland) - which included a wonderful Summer Term at Dartmouth College (USA) - then spent a few years teaching maths in a girls' boarding school out in the bush in Africa. Now back living in Edinburgh, and dabbling in this and that ... writing, art, web design, and now photography.

Photography for me used to be the instamatic being hauled out for holiday and family snaps - personal mementos that got filed in shoeboxes and forgotten. It wasn't until last year that it began to dawn on me that photography could be more creative than that. In August '02 I finally settled on a Canon A40, which is amazingly versatile and has the potential to take excellent photos. Then, this May, I found an Oly2100 on eBay, and just couldn't resist it.
