Declared the “eighth wonder of the world” when it was completed in 1863, the Alexandra Bridge and the wagon road played a key role in the gold rush economy of the 1860’s,
and in the development of the new colony of British Columbia.

The bridge was upgraded in 1926 for automobile traffic. In 1964 it was replaced by a new bridge downriver.
