San Diego, CA

When our family was poor and we didn't have much money for food, my mom would

grow these herbs to make soup. Now that we can afford to fill our stomach,

she still grows them; sometimes making soup to remember the old days where we

all ate together.

Hi Jean,
I'm not sure what it is. When made into a soup, it is somewhat slimey but the broth it made is very sweet. It is indeed a vine and the fruit (seed) turns black when ripened. I'm sure it could be made into ink!
Cheers,
Ben

What is this called Ben? It looks like some kind of vine.
