I like this shot, but don't like the two colors for the background. I retract my suggestion for only a dark background. I'd get a contrasty background, but not white or a dark color that conflicts with the brown hair. The light blue is good. A good portrait with focus on the eyes can become an heirloom, treasured for all the relatives for decades to come. The emotion you captured is wonderful, and I believe it's worth another hour or two to get a few more frames to consider for the competition.

Beautiful portrait, altho I would clone of upper right so the highlight doesn't take away from the eyes. Clone then smudge so you have only a dark background.
