We had hoped to visit the turtle sanctuary, but the sanctuary is closed to visitors. Turtles are nursed back to health on Turtle Island before being released into the sanctuary. The turtles are kept in a moderately sized pen which floods at high tide. The birds, snakes, and turtles are treated well though the whole experience was odd; like a cross between a zoo and a flea market.
The birds and turtles were magnificent.
