Ellen and I left Zambia for Mozambique for some island relaxation. Benguerra is a remote largely undeveloped island 12 miles offshore. It is an ideal location for a honeymoon. We met an Itialian couple who were married at the north tip of the island.
The waters around Benuerra are the most beautiful shades of green and blue. It is not cloud cover, but the shallows and sand bars that create the beauty.
You can kayak, snorkel, dive, or take a "cruise" in a dhow, or go fishing. The resort is very protective of their guests: the diving and snorkeling is quite tame. We had a great time snorkeling with turtles, tropical fish, and a white tipped reef shark. The diving was ok. Go to Benguerra for the beauty, to relax, and for the fishing.
Fishing... Benguerra lies in a national marine park. All fishing is catch and release, except for the natives of course. Andrew was my fishing guide for the day. He was just back from Morocco fishing for white marlin. Now I'm happy just bobbing around the ocean in a boat, and this was fun. I saw a humpback whale sound in the distance and caught a 90lb sailfish that day.
