Recently my little tuxedo kitty, Tabootsu, we rescued this summer has disappeared. I think someone decided to take him. So in my search to put ads online offering a reward I ran into an ad on craigslist. It went like this:

On November 20, 2008, I was on my way home to Bonney Lake from waaaay out in Spanaway, I heard honking as I turned to enter hwy 512 and wondered why. When I returned home, 25 miles later, I was promptly sent out for dinner, another 10 miles round-trip. I returned home and ate and was then told that I had a kitten under my van so I went to investigate. Sure enough, there was a kitten all snuggly under my warm engine. As I was trying to retrieve the kitten, I heard tiny meows from the back end of my van and crawled underneath it with a flashlight....there was another kitten inside my bumper. After many attempts to capture these kittens, we were successful. They were incredibly emaciated and suffering from some type of cold. I didn't want to take them to a shelter for fear that they would be euthanize....any tiny, feeble creature that can hang on to the undercarriage of a vehicle flying down the hwy at 60 mph deserves to live, in my book. Anyhow, They are much healthier now and very fun and playful but they need to see a vet and I cannot afford to do that for them, and I have 2 older cats that aren't too thrilled. I had wanted to keep them, but it is not possible. I am hoping that someone will read their amazing story of survival and open their home to one or both of these cuties. One is black with a small white patch on her chest and the other is black on top with white on his underside. They are about 12-15 weeks old.


I knew this little guy was meant to be with me, so I contacted the poster and got a response that the kitty was still available for adoption. I felt like a craigslist stalker with all my emails to this poor lady, but I knew in my heart I would love this little guy more than anyone ever could.

January 9, 2009 I drove to Lakewood to pick up my new addition. On my way home with my new little man, I called my husband and asked him how much he loves me. His voice chuckled as he said, you got a kitten didn't you. Did I forget to mention that I didn't tell him anything about this??? :) We are now tossing around some names, I had come up with Mr. VanStowaway. My husband thinks we should name him after Boots. Maybe we will call him Bumper. Regardless of what we call him, he is going to be extremely spoiled. A huge thank you goes out to Krista for chosing me to adopt this awesome kitty.

January 10, 2009 Little guy went to the vet this morning. He had shots and a chip. His feline leukemia and feline aids test came back negative which made me very happy.

January 13, 2009...Back to the vet for a little cold. He was not feeling well at all but he is on Antibiotics and beginning to perk up. They gave him some fluids subcutaneously and that help alot.

January 16, 2009...The little guy (gonna have to settle on a name for him soon) spent the night sleeping with me. He has claimed my memory foam pillow as his so I think I will need to get another one. He spent the night mostly sleeping with periods where he felt I should be awake and petting him. My other kitties have accepted him and no longer try to attack him. I think he knows it is safe so he is much more relaxed.

It's official...his name is Mr. Bumper VanStowaway
February 10, 2009...Bumper V.S. got fixed. He is none to happy about having to wear the cone though.
