The name "Holy Cross" was chosen as it is the translation of Saint Croix, the county in which Glenwood City is located.

Den Skandinaviske Evangeliske Menighed i Glenwood, 1889 - 1894, renamed to Our Savior's Lutheran, 1894-1962; Trinity Lutheran, 1891-1962, (Trinity and Our Savior's merged in 1962) to the name Faith Lutheran Church, 1962 - 1969;
Immanuel Lutheran, Forest, 1900 -; Zoar Lutheran, Emerald, WI, 1898-1966; St. Paul's (German) Lutheran Church, 1887-1968 (Missouri Lutheran Synod).
