This was shot about 2:00 am right after the derrick was dedicated. The old derrick was deemed unsafe and was destroyed. The original wooden derrick was erected by a 5 man crew in 11 days at a cost of $800 in 1918. The replacement was erected by a crew of 12 men, took 9 months, and at a cost of $75,000.
