Gregory Bald wild azeleas. Smoky Mts national park

On June 28 2009 two colseague from work and I went on a hike up to
Gregory Bald, mountain summit above Cades Cove in the Smky Mountain
National Park in Tennessee. Our goal was to see the wild azeleas that grow
up there on the bald summit.
We hiked up from Parson Branch road trail head.
Its a 4.5 miles long hike to the summit, not too steep, but still
you will gain a lot of altitude difference. It will take you all day.
The view from the top is said to be phenomanal, But the heavy summer haze
prevented much of that. But still the color festival of the azelea's are just amazing.
