Manchester & area

Manchester is the city in which I was brought up. I would regard it as England's second city, although people from Birmingham may not agree! The City of Manchester itself has a population of about 450,000, while the complete urban area of Greater Manchester has about 2.5 million people.

There are some grim parts of Manchester, some of which I have captured here, but the City centre is getting less grim, and at the moment is one big building site (some of which I have also captured here!)

The first pictures are in the city centre and the last around the outskirts of Manchester. Photos taken generally 2003-2008.

Fantastic photos, great detail, I know most of these places well, but I never seem to be able to get good photos of the views from the hills!

Love the pictures as I listen to Rock Fm (Preston)! Just proof to people like Brian Sewell that the North West isn't grim but is the greatest place on earth! Just look at the cityscapes of Manchester and the shots of rural Lancashire and you'l see what I mean!

Keep this going! I just love the M60/roady shots especially!

Quite good. Excellent depth and super colors. You use lighting to full effect. The subject matter of an ancient and visually-engrossing city didn't hurt either. Please keep up the fine work.
