March 10, 2010 - Rest in Peace Jake
until we meet again...
This is Jake - our 10 year old male rottweiler who has lived with us 6.5 years. He was found as a stray on October 10, 2003, and efforts to find an owner were not successful. Our initial plan was to rehome him through a breed specific rescue group. As Scott tells it, one evening Jake told him that he wanted to stay with us....and the rest is history as they say :o)
On February 4, 2010, our vet confirmed what we already suspected, that Jake has osteosarcoma (bone cancer). He has a growing tumor on his left front leg and one day in the near future, when he lets us know - we'll have to say our goodbyes...until then, we're enjoying one day at a time with him.
It i so sad to have to let them go... my Rott before the one I have now also had osteosarcoma starting in his hind leg and spreading to his lungs before we let us know something was wrong. He was 9 nine years old. I had to say good-bye one week later when his pain what very obvious even with pain killers. My heart goes out to you.

He looks like a very friendly fella. I have / had 2 rotties myself, that were brother and sister from the same litter. The male turned 4 yesterday. The female passed away from lymphoma last may. luv him all you can and treasure the days you have left (as I am sure you will).
