The following photos were taken during a late September visit to Leavenworth, Washington. This small community at the base of the Cascade Mountains re-invented itself back in the 1950s to resemble an authentic Bavarian village. As you will see, they've done a great job. The photos of the birds of prey, sidewalk chalk art, and Native American dancers were taken at the Wenatchee Salmon Festival, which happened to be taking place in Leavenworth the weekend I was visiting. An all-around charming trip, despite the dreary wet weather, full of unexpected surprises!
