Cynthia needed to travel to St. Petersburg to meet with her Russian colleagues (with whom she's gotten several large grants for development of a fantastic new immune-stimulating compound! for TB and hepatitis C!). Jim came along to keep her company in between meetings ... and, we stoppped in England on the way for a lovely weekend vacation in London and Bath.
Jim, with a favorite pastime in London
Visiting Buckingham Palace
I like these gates! (ostentatious)
A beautiful statue
Visiting the Museum of Natural History (gorgeous building, but didn't like the collections of bird parts)
Relaxing for afternoon tea in our hotel
Big Ben!! (little Cynthia)
View from the "Eye" over London
Tower Bridge, from our dinner cruise down the Thames
My first visit to St. Paul's ("feed the birds ...")
A bath, in Bath (I thought we were going to go hot-tubbing ...)
Bath is a really sweet little town
Especially when the sun came out!
The Winter Palace, St. Petersburg
Gorgeous St. Isaac's church (third largest in the world!)
Along the Neva river
Statue of Peter the Great
Lovely scenes of St. Petersburg
Love the blue and white and gold
Another view of pretty church spire
A different blue and white church
The fantastically beautiful "Church on the Blood" (amazing tile work inside)
