Highwood River Valley 2

Kananaskis Country, Alberta

Located on the continental divide on the Eastern Slopes of Kananaskis Country. Highwood Pass is the highest paved highway in Canada (2206m, 7239ft.) The road is closed from 1-Dec to 15-Jun. The main reason for the closure extending to June 15 is to facilitate elk, big horn sheep, deer and moose doing their spring grazing during that time. As well, with spring babies being born, predators are attracted to the area. But the road is closed to motorised vehicles only, making this some of the best early season cycling with no traffic. Just look out for animals, they are often on the road.

Beautiful again. Love the expanse of the country, your comp. And the clouds rolling off the mountains. GMV.

Superb landscape, I like the commentary and I am sure most people agree with the road closure.

The grand scale of these mountains is very difficult to capture. More like gigantic cathedrals than mountains.
Do clouds always flag for you? :) Great landscape, Gary.
