Highway 40 South

Kananaskis Country, Alberta

Approaching Highwood Pass from the south. Highwood Pass is the highest paved highway in Canada (2206m, 7239ft.) The road is closed from 1-Dec to 15-Jun. The main reason for the closure extending to June 15 is to facilitate elk, big horn sheep, deer and moose doing their spring grazing during that time. As well, with spring babies being born, predators are attracted to the area. But the road is closed to motorised vehicles only, making this some of the best early season cycling with no traffic. Just look out for animals, they are often on the road.

As a bicyclist with a dream of riding cross the country, scenes like this are what make the trip.

Great Gary. The road and the center line lead the eye right to the peak and turns off in a gentle curve. Very nice composition.

Beutiful Gary!
I have to check that Singh-Ray Polarizer for my 8080WZ. I tried the Moose filter but I didn't like the results
