It was a Calgary landmark and was reduced to dust and rubble on Oct. 16, 2011 and it took only six seconds. It was a nearly century-old building praised as a model of innovative industrial architecture. The terminal was demolished using a controlled charge. Over the past few months, 682 holes were drilled in support columns to allow the structure to safely collapse on itself. It's not every day a 98-year-old landmark topples. The Ogden terminal was one of three concrete grain elevators constructed on the Prairies before the First World War by the federal government.
