~ Update ~ I lost Prosper today, 12/05/07. He was a sweet, silly boy and I will miss him dearly.
Prosper is one of three ferrets that I adopted from a Florida shelter. He's a very sweet boy. He has a genetic defect called Waardenburg's Syndrome that large breeding farms (that supply pet stores) *intentionally* breed for because it makes the animals "cute". WS can cause a multitude of problems or none at all, depending upon it's severity. In Prosper, it caused him to have larger than normal & slightly bulging eyes and it also caused him to be mentally retarded. Prosper is doing well at this time, but suffers from adrenal disease & insulinoma (pancreatic cancer).
