The El Capitan Trail in Guadalupe Mountains National Park is a long loop that offers great views of the iconic El Capitan, Guadalupe Peak (the tallest point in Texas) as well as the Chihuahuan Desert to the east. If you go in the summer, bring lots of water. It gets hot our here.
This image of El Capitan was captured an hour after sunrise while my portion of the trail was still in shade. There are few things I enjoy more than being out in the wilderness and enjoying nature's quiet and solitude.
Watch out for snakes, too!
