I went to Irvine Regional Park in search of the Varied Thrush at Parking Lot 9 but kept getting side-tracked by other species. Best of all was the Red-shouldered Hawk pair mating on a sycamore. The male was banded on the right "leg" with white X on a red band. I had photographed a similar (same?) bird in 2009 that was banded by Pete Bloom/Scott Thomas. Never saw the Varied Thrush, oh, well, that's birding!
