It's been a great year 2018! (Acorn Woodpeckers, male)
From beak (Great Egret)
to unique feet (American Coot)
and fancy feathers (Wood Duck)
Hooded Merganser female
Take off!
Mandarin Duck reflection
Mandarin Duck female (notice white beak tip, thin white eye stripe, big blotches on side)
She's banded! But Bird Banding Lab says she's a WOOD DUCK banded in 2014 at Yorba Park
Female Wood duck has big white teardrop behind eye, smaller blotches on side, and black beak nail
Compare Mandarin and Wood. I think bander misidentified Mandarin female!
Cute couple with bright colors!
Mallard says he's got bright colors too!
Excited to finally get a good photo of a Dark-eyed Junco
May you find wonderful things in the new year
As we say farewell to 2018
