Thanks, Bill, for the correction. I am just a marine biologist trying to identify earth's most numerous species, the insecs, which are not found in the ocean! I have really enjoyed making my yard into a habitat for wildlife, and watching the insects in addition to the birds. I saw Sara Orangetips flying at Caspers last weekend. Hope your butterfly-chasing is going well! Trude

Your photo labeled "House Fly on California Buckwheat Flower" is not Musca domestica....it's a Bottle Fly....family Calliphoridae.

I love your pics. Thanks for sharing !
