Sorry for your loss. I know how attached one can get to a tree. I am glad that you have a functional souvenir.

i know how you feel, we had to have 14 ponderosa pines cut due to bark beetle within a year of moving to our new place, it seemed bare looking out the back, but the good thing is that we now have a more open view off towards the other mountain ridges. We also used the wood for various things, like a stack of it for a cirtter haven.

I feel your pain! In about the year 2000, I held a block party for the retirement of our 30 year old Liquid Amber. We actually had a potluck and spirits to make it a celebration. But beware, you might find that some hardy residual roots haven't been laid to rest They just might be snickering and putting out new growth as I write.
It was with great sadness that we decided to remove the liquid amber tree in front of our new home. It was too close to the water main and already uplifting the area. We highly recommend the Gruett company for their professionalism, safety, and completeness. We honor the tree's life by keeping several pieces to use in our yard.
