There was a report of a Nazca Booby at the Dana Point jetty and it stayed for several days. This bird is normally found on the Galapagos but sometimes is seen offshore Southern California. Since camp was over and I didn't have to take a pelagic trip to see it, we went. Lots of birders with scopes, binoculars, and cameras but no bird. While waiting, I saw a Yellow-crowned Night-heron, a LIFE bird for me! We went to lunch and returned to the jetty where a flock of birders were tightly packed and looking in one direction. Success! LIFE bird number two for the day: Nazca Booby. Birding can be fun!
