Do you know which species of Cassia you are growing, the butterflies are beautiful. I'm sure you know that they can't fly properly until the temp exceeds 60 degrees.

In southern California, adult Cloudless Sulfur Butterflys are mostly found from April through May in desert regions where their host plant is Cassia. I have Cassia growing in my courtyard and backyard so this is a familiar butterfly. I have watched them mating and laying eggs and have seen their chrysalis but no caterpillars. I am sorry to see them emerge in winter as all of these individuals seemed very weak. They may end up feeding the resident black phoebe or alligator lizards. That's nature. Anyway, I certainly appreciated my garden's gift to me on Christmas!
