A lawn of Bermuda grass is almost useless for California native wildlife. So in 2014, we solarized in the middle of summer for two months to kill it, then planted locally native California plants. You can see the progress! We have now recorded 47 bird species, 14 butterfly species, 3 dragonfly species, and 4 reptiles and amphibians plus lots of native insects. We're happy to improve our local ecosystem.
